About Glass Seashells

Even though the shells are made of glass, they are not as fragile as you might think. They can be handled confidently without fear of breakage. If they are dropped on or hit into a hard surface, they will likely break. Prior to shipping, each shell is packed in protective materials to ensure it arrives safely.

After years of collecting and admiring seashells, Vicki has developed a process in which different colors and canes of glass are layered over one another to mimic nature. She experimented for months before arriving at this technique.
Some shells are designed based on real ones in her collection. Others evolved at the torch from her imagination. -
Vicki creates every detail entirely from glass, applying centuries-old flameworking techniques in each creation. No paints are ever used.
Each shell consists of a minimum of four layers of glass applied to the end of a small blowpipe. As she inflates the glass, she stretches it and cuts into it to create the shell’s shape. She may also use a simple knife to cut additional details.

You can showcase your shell on a Sand Dune Display Stand that I made specifically for this purpose. This elegant, stable support allows you to position the shell in many different positions. If you prefer, you can also place your shell on a flat surface or nestle it into some sand you’ve placed in a shallow dish.
