Murrini Floral
Glass Beads
“Prior to making each bead, I spend hours producing complex canes of glass that I cut into slices and embed into the core of the bead. Covering the slices with layers of clear glass gives the illusion of 3D flowers floating in their own impressionistic garden.”
Available Beads
Handcrafted by Vicki Schneider, each bead is individually flameworked and properly annealed in a digitally controlled kiln, making every piece one of a kind.

About Murrini Beads
-
Even though the beads are made of glass, they are not as fragile as you might think. They are designed to withstand normal wear and tear. However, if they are dropped on or hit into a hard surface, you should expect some damage. Prior to shipping, each bead is packed in protective materials to ensure it arrives safely.

Vicki is inspired by flowers she sees in nature. Many of her floral murrini are designed to represent real species. Others are from her imagination. Her goal is to create a miniature colorful garden filled with layered flowers and leaves.
-
Vicki creates every detail entirely from glass, applying centuries-old flameworking techniques to create floral canes. No paints or components made by other artists are used.
Depending on the flower, Vicki may join anywhere between 10 to 50 sections of cane in creating each floral design.
She embeds many cross-sections of various canes into the bead to build the garden. This is a very time-consuming and delicate process. You can learn more by researching the millefiori technique.

These miniature works of art can be incorporated into jewelry as a eye-catching focal bead or placed on display. The beads are made on 3/32” mandrels, resulting in a hole size of approximately 2.4 mm.
