All classes are held at our safe and beautiful studio at 3333 Lake Shore Rd. (also known as Route 5) in Buffalo, NY. Click here for directions to the studio.
Following is some informaiton and pointers we think you will find helpful. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us. We want you to be comfortable and productive.
Participants in group classes must be at least 15 years of age. Younger students will be considered on an individual basis and may require parental supervision when working in the studio. Children age 10 and older may participate in our "Mini Class in Glass Beadmaking" or "DIY Glass Icicles." Chidren age 11+ may be eligible for private instruction following a mini class assessment. Parents or guardians must sign a liability form on behalf of students under 18.
Seats in classes are held upon receipt of all related fees. Full payment must be received at least ten days before the first class. We accept cash, PayPal, money orders, gift certificates, and personal checks.
To help students practice what they've learned, anyone who completes a 3 hour or longer flameworking class at Expressive Glass will receive complimentary studio rental time. Complimentary time may only be used by the person who took the class and must be used within one month of completing the class.
Clothing
When working at a torch, please wear 80-100% cotton or wool clothing (synthetics melt if touched by hot glass), tie back long hair, wear closed toe shoes, and no loose jewelry. Long artificial nails may pose a hazard for beginners.
Food & drink
Participants are encouraged to keep themselves hydrated. Please bring your own water or other non-alcoholic beverages. There are several delis, grocery stores, and restaurants nearby.
The studio has a small refrigerator and microwave which students and renters are welcome to use.
Parking
The studio has 10 complimentary parking spots right outside our door in our
parking lot.
Cancellation by Participant for classes taught by Vicki Schneider (revised 9/1/15)
A $20 non-refundable processing fee will be applied to all individuals regardless of the reason for cancellation. Cancellations will be refundable (minus the $20 processing fee) only if notice of cancellation is received in writing and postmarked three weeks prior to the beginning of the class. If cancellation occurs within the three-week period, the fee (minus the $20 processing fee) may be applied to another class within a year’s time of the initial purchase. Cancellations within ten days prior to the date of the class or a "no show" will not be given a refund or class credit. Exceptions will be made at the studio's sole discretion.
Cancellations by Expressive Glass
Expressive Glass reserves the right to cancel, combine, or reschedule classes and workshops, or to change class instructors when necessary.
If Expressive Glass cancels, reschedules a class or workshop, or changes instructors for any reason, all registered participants will be informed as soon as possible and extended the opportunity to transfer to another class.
NOTE: If a participant chooses not to attend a rescheduled class, Expressive Glass will fully refund the tuition and fees by check within 30 days of the cancellation.
NOTE: Because worked glass must cool gradually in a kiln (anneal), students' work will not be available for pickup until 1-5 days after the class. Beads and most projects can be shipped for an additional fee payable to Expressive Glass.
Expressive Glass holds open torch hours as indicated in our calendar, with additional hours by appointment. We offer an evening special with reduced rental fees. Any lampworker who can demonstrate the ability to work safely and independently with minimal supervision is welcome. Check our calendar for scheduled dates and contact us to reserve your spot.
Trained lampworkers may rent studio time if, in our sole opinion, the individuals can function safely without supervision. Prior to their first rental, all individuals must participate in a studio and safety orientation.
RENTAL OPTIONS
Soft Glass flameworking rates, WITH tool rental
Includes use of standard studio tools (Minor burner, mandrels, bead release, small graphite paddle, straight and curved picks, tweezers ), ACE safety glasses, and digitally controlled annealer.
Hourly rate: $14 first hour, $12/hr for subsequent hours on same day (billed at the
rate of $3 per 15 minutes, rounded up or down)

Package rate:$120 for 11 hours*, pre-paid
Renters using borosilicate glass will pay a $2 additional fee per hour.
* Renters purchasing a pre-paid package will be provided with a covered bin where they may store their personal items (glass, tools, etc.) during their pre-paid period. Hours must be used within 12 months of purchase or become void. Any items left in bins after 12 months of inactivity become the property of Expressive Glass, LLC to be used or disposed of at its sole discretion.
Fusing Rates
Students who, in our sole opinion, can function independently may rent studio time at $5 per hour plus a materials and firing fee based on the size of your project. Please contact us for more information.
