“Sculptural Bird Beads” – 2 days
“Sculptural Butterfly Beads” – 1 day
Learn to make beautiful bird and butterfly beads using a variety of sculptural techniques.
Demonstrations will include making simple birds and butterflies and expanding to include realistic details. We'll use a variety of reference materials for form and color accuracy.
Techniques will include:
- assembling canes,
- color mixing and overlays,
- heat control, and
- controlled application and manipulation of stringers and dots.
This workshop is appropriate for intermediate to advanced level soft-glass lampworkers.
*PLEASE NOTE: Students will need additional tools including a graphite stump shaper, a small brass stump shaper, various tweezers, and a tile nipper. Contact us for a complete list. On September 10 as a courtesy to our students and to minimize your costs, the studio will arrange to purchase the additional required tools for students. An order form will be provided and students will receive a personalized invoice based on their purchases.
